Enterprise, Northwest Territories, Canada —August 6, 2024— Edge Energy, a pioneering energy conversion technology company offering faster, more cost efficient and higher performing solutions to install ultra-fast EV (Electric Vehicles) charging stations without three-phase power, announced that it will be partnering with Naka Power to install DC Fast Charging stations in the remote town of Enterprise in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
“These sites were originally planned with Freewire charging stations. Naka Power approached us to provide an alternative to the Freewire chargers they had originally planned on using. We worked with Naka Power’s partners at ATCO to design a solution”, said Edge Energy, Director of Business Development, Ben Morris.
The remote location of this charging location meant that traditional three-phase that is typically required for DC Fast Chargers was not available. Combined with the rugged environment, where average winter temperatures can be -20°F, options were limited. The EdgeEV Power Source from Edge Energy provided the solution. The rugged design was perfect for the location and the solid state technology means no moving parts making it perfect for the cold weather. And because the technology does not use batteries it provides continuous power to the charging station up to 150 kilowatts (kW) that is not affected by temperature or how many vehicles it has charged.
“Edge Energy is in a unique position to provide infrastructure for level-3 charging stations,” said Morris. “In many areas three-phase power is not available or to costly or time consuming to install. This means that projects like this one in Enterprise sometimes go undone. That means that communities and business cannot take advantage of the benefits of critical infrastructure like charging stations. Edge Energy is providing a cost effective way for these communities to grow their economies and support their neighbors. We’re are excited to partner with them.”
